London Historical Fencing CLub
LHFC at SALUTE
On Saturday 11th April 2026, London Historical Fencing Club will be at SALUTE with bringing a selection of steel and synthetic weapons for visitors to view and handle.
Club members bring more weapons to show off in exciting clashes and sparring demonstrations so you can get a glimpse of what historical combat looked like.
They’ll also be hosting some participation sessions with their synthetic longswords which you can sign up for at their demonstration area located at GC06 on the SALUTE map. Make sure to stop by!
What is LHFC?
Fighting with European style swords and other weapons was, until relatively recently, a lost art. Martial arts that were used extensively throughout Medieval and Renaissance Europe gradually died out over the centuries until they were nearly forgotten. In the last few decades, practitioners of Historical European Martial Arts (HEMA), working from contemporary treatises, have been reconstructing these techniques and principles.
LHFC is a non-profit, member run club and a registered charity, set up with the goal of promoting HEMA through training, scholarship, competition and tournaments.
They train several different weapons and sword fighting styles. The historical sources that form the basis of their teaching range from the high-Medieval period, through the Renaissance and into the Early Modern.
They welcome people from all walks of life and every session strive towards creating and maintaining a safe and inclusive environment where everyone should feel free to be themselves.
